NORCA is designed to lead a revolution. A potential alliance of counties adjacent or near the Ohio river,
Learn about The Louie Plan, a comprehensive transportation and development plan for Louisville. The shining star of the plan is the LOU, a fully planned light metro and companion express bus system.
Learn about preliminary plans and policies to equip the 'big city' of the midwest with 'big city' transit and amenities. This includes a streetcar tunnel to uptown, and a massive highway removal and reconstruction project.
Still in development, improvements for Pittsburgh will focus on consolidating travel corridors to reconnect people and places, and plan for growth.
The long term goal of the alliance would be to promoting sustainable development from Louisville to Pittsburgh. Additionally the alliance would oversee rural and regional transit.
This website serves as an organizational tool for Fenley's plans of the cities of Louisville, Cincinnati, and Pittsburgh. It also details transferrable designs, policies, and methodologies developed by Fenley to make transit design and implementation easier for other cities.
Use the links at the top to view the plans for individual cities, or view the interactive map of the whole region.
Scribble maps is the mapping engine I (Fenley) use most often, as it is easy to use, and I was able to survive on the free version for many years. The regional map with everything in it has the ID of yearntoconnect, and it is what I make regular edits in. You will most likely have to turn on and off layers if viewing this map (it is the map that runs in the 'interactive map' page). I now have two new maps, for easy to construct projects, with the one for Louisville being easylouisville, and the one for Cincinnati being easycincinnati. These are more curated. There will eventually be a production map for the LOU in Louisville.
NORCA (Northern Ohio River County Alliance) is a potential alliance of counties adjacent or near the Ohio river, with similar culture, history, and ideas. If these counties work together, they could draw investment and opportunity to the region. The .world comes from the idea that coordinated development efforts can draw attention to the region from the world. Our region's relative immunity to climate change impacts has helped in this effort.
